Netflix has released the official trailer of its newest murder whodunnit ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte.

MUMBAI: Netflix has released the official trailer of its newest murder whodunnit ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte, which will come out on 31 July.

When a wealthy old owner of a bungalow is mysteriously murdered on the night of his wedding, honest policeman Jatil Yadav (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is assigned to investigate the incident. In the due process, he discovers that the murder is way more complicated and layered than it appears to be, with each family member holding a secret hidden motive.

In his pursuit of unravelling the truth, Yadav faces the wrath of corrupt armchairs of the government who try to stop him from unveiling the true face of an apparent ‘open-and-shut case’.

One of the subplots in the film deals with the changing relationship dynamics between Yadav and the mysterious mistress with whom the late man was about to be married. Played by Radhika Apte, the mistress and Yadav grow an intimate love relationship amongst the parallel unearthing of the murder mystery.

Raat Akeli Hai boasts of an ensemble cast. Apart from Siddiqui and Apte, Shweta Tripathi as the man’s daughter and Tigmanshu Dhulia Siddiqui’s boss cop play promising parts. Other names amongst the ensemble include Shivani Raghuvanshi, Aditya Srivastava, Nishant Dahiya, Ila Arun and famous playback singer, Swanand Kirkire.

After Sacred Games, Raat Akeli Hai will bring Apte and Siddiqui together for the second time on the streaming platform. Apte, a Netflix favourite, has been seen on this platform before, in shows like Ghoul and Lust Stories.

Raat Akeli Hai is the directorial debut by Honey Trehan and produced by Abhishek Chaubey and Ronnie Screwvala. The film is slated to release with 11 other films in Netflix’s recently announced movie release marathon.
