MUMBAI: Rakul Preet Singh and Sumeet Vyas will be seen together in Tejas Vijay Deoskar’s Chhatriwali. The movie will premiere on Zee5 on 20th January 2023, and the trailer has grabbed everyone’s attention.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Rakul and spoke to her about the movie, sex education, and a lot more.
What was your reaction when you read the script?
Sometimes you know things, and as a person you are evolved to know the right from the wrong. But when it comes to you in the form of a script, you realise that it is such an important conversation to have. It is such an important topic to talk about because so many women are not even aware that they have the right to have a choice. So, our main motto is to create awareness. When I read the script, I really connected with the thought of it. It is very close to my heart because I don’t think a lot of films have spoken about women’s health. We are talking about unsafe sex and the problems that come along with it. But what are those problems; we have never discussed that, and how it affects a woman. How many abortions and miscarriages can a woman handle? This is a great film, and the beauty of it is that it is not preachy. It’s an entertaining film that I can watch with my parents. There’s no one scene in the film which is cringe-worthy. It’s a family film.
Rakul opens up about sex education being optional in schools
In life, it’s not an option. In life, it is compulsory; whether you are educated or not. So, then why is education optional?
Has it ever happened that anybody from the audience reached out to you and said that this has happened with me as well?
I had it after Doctor G. On my social media, I saw so many messages, and there was one message that I remember, she said, “Thank you so much for making a film like this, as after eight years of marriage, I can have a conversation with my husband.” It’s so important and basic; we are not tantalising or selling our film on that point. It is normal and it is a part of the human body, and evolution and your existence. So, why make it a taboo?
