MUMBAI : TSuperboys Of Malegaon, starring Shashank Arora, Adarsh Gourav, and Vineet Kumar Singh, witnessed a roaring response at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2024. The film, which premiered at the 49th edition of TIFF, witnessed a packed auditorium, followed by a standing ovation as it ended. Superboys Of Malegaon, directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Zoya Akhtar, is a slice-of-life story following a group of passionate amateur filmmakers who set out to create parody films in the town of Malegaon in India. What follows is an authentic story with sincere performances.
Ahead of the film's premiere, the boys looked dapper as they posed at red carpet. Shashank, who is a festival favorite, also received great applause. The cheers echoed throughout thd auditorium as the film ended.
Actors Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora, Vineet Kumar Singh, Manjiri Pupala, Anuj Duhan, Saquib Ayub, along with producers Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti (also the director), and writer Varun Grover, and Nasir Shaikh (on whom the lead protagonist is based) were present at the screening of the movie at the Roy Thompson Theater.
Superboys Of Malegaon has been lauded for its authenticity and the sincerity of the characters that it portrayed. After TIFF, the movie will screen at the BFI London Film Festival in October. It will have a theatrical release in India in January 2025.
