MUMBAI :Suniel Shetty made his OTT debut with the show Dharavi Bank and it broke many records. Now, he is gearing up for his next web show which is a reality show and it is titled Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt. The reality show is based on MMA and Shetty will be hosting it.

What made you say yes to Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt?

I think real people, real struggle, simple people, simple background, no official training, no nutrition, no coach, no facility, and the passion to become the best in the country, to represent India in the world. This is the talent that is there on the show, they are not actors, they are real people, and when I got this opportunity, I said I can’t say no to it because this is my background, martial arts is where I grew up. Martial arts gave me an image of an action hero and it still exists; it taught me discipline and confidence. So, I had to do this.

People in India don’t have much idea about MMA, so do you think they are ready for a reality show like this?

We are completely wrong there, because MMA is a combination of probably 36 different martial arts, and according to me Kalaripayattu and Kushti are probably the oldest martial arts ever. We have exported yoga and martial art to the world. Travelers have come and learned the sport and gone. I honestly believe that kids are not getting an opportunity, the minute they get the opportunity, we are getting medals all over. Every second, a gold or silver medal is probably ours. So, if I give this opportunity to these kids, they can go and score internationally. So, soon you will see the best fighters coming out of India and it is the fastest-growing sport after football and cricket. 
 

You are one of the fittest actors we have in Bollywood. So, tell us your fitness secret.

Early to bed, early to rise, and regular training ; even if I am not well I will go to the gym and do a little bit of training. Quantification of food, the timing of food, and the need and urge to go to the gym and train according to the way my body and I am aging.

Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt will premiere on MX Player on 12th February 2023.
