MUMBAI: Gouri Agarwal, playing Mahima in Swipe Crime on Amazon MX Player, shares her thoughts on the series produced by Harsh Mainra, Jyoti Chauhan, and Prashant Shinde under Versatile Motion Pictures. The show explores the intersection of dating apps, social media, and cybercrime, making it deeply relevant in today’s world.

“When I first heard the name Swipe Crime, I thought it was very catchy,” Gouri says. “The term ‘swipe’ instantly made me think of dating apps, and ‘crime’ hinted at intensity. However, the series is much more—it’s about friendship, college life, and spreading awareness.”

As an influencer and content creator, Mahima’s character brings sass, confidence, and relatability to the table. “Mahima is versatile and doesn’t limit herself to just one niche. She’s sassy, spontaneous, and doesn’t tolerate unnecessary attitude. I think a lot of people will relate to her openness and her emotions being like an open book.”

Discussing the series’ focus on social media, Gouri highlights its relevance: “We’re living in a digital era where everyone is on these platforms. The show sheds light on the good and bad sides, and that’s crucial. Personally, I’ve faced online scams this year, so it feels close to home.”

Despite the upsides of social media, Gouri warns of potential risks. “While it offers exposure and opportunities, there’s pressure to maintain a constant online presence. This can lead to mental health challenges and dependency. We need to strike a balance.”

Gouri also praises her experience working with Versatile Motion Pictures, calling it a “family-like” environment. “Our director and producers were so approachable and supportive. It felt like a creative team effort.”

Her camaraderie with co-actors off-screen is equally memorable. “We’ve become like family. Holi 2023, during our first schedule, stands out—we surprised everyone with water balloons, and it became a moment we all cherish,” she adds.

With its engaging narrative and timely themes, Swipe Crime promises to resonate with audiences and spark conversations about digital responsibility.
