MUMBAI: The Broken News released in 2022 which featured Jaideep Ahlawat, Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Jay Upadhyay, Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Aakash Khurana and Kiran Kumar. It is an OTT newsroom drama OTT series directed by Vinay Waikul which released on ZEE5. The series was a remake of the British series ‘Press’.
The makers have come back with season 2 of the series with the same star cast and addition of Akshay Oberoi, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan and Suchitra Pillai. The series shows the rivalry between two media channels and in season 2 the fight just gets even uglier as Radha Bhargav, played by Shriya Pilgaonkar, gets bail and starts as the managing director of Awaaz Bharati digital.
Well, the second has already been released on ZEE5 and has been available to stream from 3rd May.
In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Suchitra Pillai was asked about the response that the show received from audience and what’s important when making a comeback.
When asked about the response that the show received, Suchitra Pillai said, “I watched season 1, even before this was offered to me. That time itself it was one of those ‘wow’ factors of sitting up and saying ‘wow they’ve actually shown this’ so that was always there for me as far as the show was concerned. After the success of season 1, the main reason I took on this season 2 was the fact for me I would have to say in capital letter ‘Jaideep Ahlawat’. For me that was the big draw. As far as the show is concerned, it’s good to know when a show is quite real, when it has created a bit of a buzz, it’s always great to be part of a second season.”
When talked about what’s important during a comeback, whether choosing the type of project is important or not, Suchitra Pillai said, “When I think you are making a comeback it’s important to choose carefully. I mean Sonali made the right move because OTT is where it’s at frankly and it has been that way for a couple of years. So for her to get a show like this, which showcases her pretty well, I think that was the right move for her.”
