The Broken News season 2 review: Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar unleash a new face of truth

The story writers have done a great job in showing the shape of truth and how journalists bend it as per requirement. We also have a new addition in this season, Akshay Oberoi and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan who definitely bring some interesting elements with them which make the show more interesting.

MUMBAI: The Broken News starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Jay Upadhyay, Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Aakash Khurana and Kiran Kumar. The series is a remake of the British series Press. It is written by Mike Bartlett, who created the original, and Sambit Mishra. The Broken News season 1 released in 2022 on ZEE5. The series is based on the rivalry between two media channels ‘Awaaz Bharati’ and ‘Josh 24/7’.

Now creators of the series have taken things to the next level with season 2, continuing the story of what happens to Radha after she comes out of prison. If you think that season 1 gave you a good peek behind the curtains into what happens in the world of media then hold on because that was just the beginning and season 2 is sure to give you a good picture of the ruthless side of media. Season 2 shows some human emotions with some not-so-human acts done to strengthen propaganda in the name of ‘showing the truth’.

While Ameena Qureshi (played by Sonali Bendre) stands as the beacon of hope, showing one side of how a journalist should be and how difficult it can be while on the other hand we see Dipankar Sanyal (played by Jaideep Ahlawat) as the ruthless journalist who is ready to cross limits in order to get what he wants and prove what he wants to prove.

The story writers have done a great job in showing the shape of truth and how journalists bend it as per requirement. We also have a new addition in this season, Akshay Oberoi and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan who definitely bring some interesting elements with them which make the show more interesting.

While Akshay Oberoi’s character comes with a mysterious vibe, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan’s character shows the circus of the media when instead of finding the truth it becomes easier to ‘make’ the truth. Yes there are some loopholes in the storyline but from the first episode to the last episode, the series keeps you hooked and wondering.

Team Tellychakkar gives 3.5/5.
