The yearly Ashtakaali festival in the fictional Tamil Nadu village of Kaalipattanam serves as the backdrop for the second season of the award-winning series. The murder of Chellappa (Lal), a veteran activist lawyer and social worker, is brutal and leaves a dark shadow that extends far beyond the village and its residents. Nandini's (Aishwarya) history haunts her as she faces an uncertain future in prison while Sakkarai (Kathir) is tasked with solving the enigmatic and unnerving crime.
When eight young ladies who are unrelated to one another turn out to be the main suspects in the murder, the investigation sends them both on a path of lies, secret, criminality, conspiracy, and fatalities that becomes even more complicated. Before he is overcome by the gloom of the horrific incident, Sakkarai must traverse blatant reasons, personal grudges, and prior actions in order to solve the case and discover the truth.
"After the phenomenal response to the first season of Suzhal—The Vortex, we set a high bar for ourselves to ensure the audience finds the second season even more captivating," stated producers Bramma and Sarjun KM. "We carefully and imaginatively guided Pushkar and Gayatri to bring to life an even more captivating story. Together with the amazing ensemble cast, Kathir and Aishwarya gave another captivating performance, which made our job as directors much simpler. We are certain that season two will be immensely captivating, and we can't wait for viewers to delve back into the realm of Suzhal—The Vortex."
"I'm excited to play Sub-Inspector Sakkarai again in the second season of Suzhal—The Vortex, a ground-breaking series that revolutionised Tamil storytelling, brought attention to our sector internationally, and garnered national awards. True visionaries Pushkar and Gayatri have created another captivating and enjoyable story for season two. The tremendous reaction from viewers and reviewers to my performance and the first season was incredibly humble, and I hope that everyone will enjoy the second season as much as they did the first," Kathir added.
Suzhal—The Vortex will always be one of my favourite and most memorable ventures, and I'm still in awe of the love and gratitude I got for my role in the first season of the show," Aishwarya continued. It was quite the rollercoaster to play Nandini, who alternated between looking for her younger sister, reliving her repressed memories, and exacting revenge for the horrible atrocity that had been committed against her and her sister. She still has nightmares in season two because she is enmeshed in an unsolvable murder mystery. When season two debuts on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, I can't wait for the audience to see it because, if season one was thrilling, season two will be even more unpredictable.
