'Undekhi' more than a murder mystery, conventional thriller: Ashish R. Shukla

MUMBAI: Directer Ashish R. Shukla, who was creative head in "Dev.D", says his upcoming series "Undekhi" is more than a murder mystery.

"What drew me to 'Undekhi' is the unabashed writing and ability to tell a story of amorality so well. Unlike any conventional thriller, it's more of a human story where every character is on the edge and on the brink of breaking their world apart. The series benefits from some stupendous performances and locales of Himachal add a distinct flavour to the show. Every character has been well etched out and contributes to the potential of the story. Here in each episode, viewers start questioning their own conscience thinking what they would have done in the circumstances the protagonists are in," said Shukla.

"Also, after a point, the whole plot takes a massive turn when dramatically the predators turn into prey, and the whole thing becomes a rabbit hole of events. I am really excited for the audience to experience this show," he added about the show, which features Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Harsh Chhaya among others.

"We had initially decided not to have a huge, star-studded cast as it wasn't the necessity knowing the story and the plot are so thick. We have our great actors like Harsh Chhaya, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Surya Sharma, Ankur Rathi and an excellent ensemble of performers and many new faces as a surprise. The cast went through rigorous workshops to crack their characters before hitting the set and the experience of watching them flourish has been rewarding. Harsh and Dibyendu are definitely going to surprise with the experiments done with their characters," said the director.

Shukla, who directed the critically-acclaimed "Prague", is also waiting for the release of his film "Bahut Hua Sammaan", starring Sanjay Mishra, Ram Kapoor and Raghav Juyal.
