MUMBAI: One of the biggest OTT releases this year is the thriller web series Farzi, starring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi in the leading role. It is all set to launch next month on the OTT platform. Now weeks before the release of the series, the makers of the show, Raj & DK have shared some interesting details about their upcoming show.
According to the makers, they had thought of the idea of demonetisation before the Modi government had decided to implement the same strategy throughout the country in 2016. They said that they had written the script for the series before it was announced in the nation.
And according to their initial story, a cop comes up with the idea that the only way to put a stop to the counterfeiting of currency is to stop or ban the existing 500 notes. At that time, they didn’t know the meaning of the word demonetization, and instead used the term invalidate. Imagine their surprise when their idea became a reality!

This script for the series was initially written in 2016 for a movie, before demonetisation happened. DK reminisced about how they had received calls from people who had actually read the original script after the actual ‘invalidation’ of notes took place. It seems like Raj & DK just thought about it, and the events already took place in real life.
However, post demonetisation taking place, the Farzi makers decided to change the initial plot of their script. DK shared that it was very interesting that what they wrote and thought about, later happened in real life after they wrote it.
The plot of Farzi is very interesting. It is a crime thriller drama starring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. This marks the OTT debut for both actors. The creators of the web series are well-known filmmakers who are even known as the directors of the popular Manoj Bajpayee show ‘The Family Man’. The episodic series also stars Kay Kay Menon and Raashii Khanna. Farzi will begin streaming on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of February 2023.
