Neil Nitin Mukesh, who essays the role of Gagan Ahuja—a complex, brooding artist with a legacy to reckon with—says the character felt like a homecoming. “Playing a singer was definitely challenging, but my musical background really helped,” he shares. “My father gave me some valuable advice on how to portray a singer authentically, and I’m truly grateful for his guidance. Lip syncing to my grandfather’s iconic song Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan—that was the highlight of the entire show for me.” His portrayal channels both the burden and beauty of inheritance, as Gagan leads a new generation of artists through conflict, chaos, and catharsis.
But it wasn’t all intensity and introspection—there were lighter moments too. Recalling an unexpected twist on set, Neil laughs, “We were filming an intense musical performance, and I got so caught up in the moment that I accidentally knocked down a real guitar—crashed it instead of the dummy one, or so I thought, haha! That’s when I realised I was right in the middle of a prank by my notorious director and the fun crew. Everyone burst out laughing, and we had to take a break just to compose ourselves before I could get back to the much-needed intensity!”
