MUMBAI :Out of the many skin issues we have, cellulite is one of them and one of the toughest to get rid of. It is still not openly spoken about and considered an embarrassment to even mention that you have cellulite. While body positivity has been encouraged in recent times and spoken about all over, dimpled skin is still something that is hard to accept for many women.
What exactly is cellulite?
Fat pockets that are stored under the skin due to hormonal or other reasons are referred to as cellulite. It features dimpled skin that usually makes an appearance on the thighs and buttocks. If you thought that only overweight people get cellulite then you are absolutely wrong! Even slim and skinny people can easily get cellulite as the problem is usually underlying like poor circulation, sedentary lifestyle or hormonal imbalances.
Can Cellulite be treated or is it here as a lifelong partner?
Depends. If the condition is severe then it might take some major treatments and some time for it to reduce. If it is mild, then it might be easy to get rid of it, provided one stays active and eats right.
Avoiding cellulite
As they say, prevention is better than cure, it applies to cellulite too! Having a healthy and active lifestyle will help in providing enough blood to the tissues thus improving your circulation, because of which the cellulite will stay at bay.
You don’t necessarily have to spend time and money in a gym. You can simply choose an exercise form that suits your body and lifestyle. Cardio exercises like walking, swimming, jogging and skipping work too.
Using anti-cellulite creams as a part of your usual beauty routine will be beneficial. Also regular body massages have been known to reduce or avoid cellulite as they increase blood circulation.
Diet
Reducing or avoiding sugary, salty foods and alcohol will help in keeping cellulite away from your body, as these things cause water retention, which can cause skin puffiness. Sipping on fresh lime water or coconut water regularly will help in keeping a check on the electrolytes level in your body.
