MUMBAI : Well, New Jeans has been levied with a new allegation of plagiarism scandal after claims of similarities came to light with the famous Mexican girl group Jeans. The situation came to more light after Patricia Sirvent who has been a member of Jeans spoke about similarities related to the creative aspect and imitation.
Well, it was on May 23 that a member of the Mexican girl group Jeans named Patricia Sirvent reportedly took to her Instagram story to reveal that NewJeans has been accused of plagiarism. Reportedly, she had earlier also accused NewJeans of copying Jeans'1990 style, which came as a shock. There was also a newspaper named El Siglo that revealed the similarities between the duo groups and had also revealed that New Jeans had taken all the inspiration from Jeans. Well, interestingly Patricia Sirvent had reposted a story that revealed NewJeans was plagiarizing content openly.
Her open allegation also raised further debate related to the theories of creative influence and imitation that are happening in the music industry. Fans and critics were also controversial about these allegations which were put upon and raised questions related to the integrity of an artist and appropriation of culture.
