Post a four-year hiatus, Penty starred in the titular role of Happy in Happy Bhag Jayegi, a sleeper hit receiving BIG Star Most Entertaining Actress in a Comedy Film nomination. She went on to portray a NGO worker in Lucknow Central, an army officer in Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, a public service volunteer in Shiddat and the leading lady in the Malayalam film Salute.
