MUMBAI: Well known Hollywood actor Dabney Coleman who brought many mean bosses and wickedly funny villains to life has sadly passed away. He was 92 years old. The actor died peacefully at his Santa Monica, California home on Thursday.

Dabney’s daughter Quincy Coleman confirmed the news of his death on behalf of their family saying he, “took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely”. Dabney was known for his arrogant and unapologetic characters. “That's just a guy that I'm playing, just to fool around, you know,” he had once described his characters.

Dabney was popular for films like On Golden Pond, Sworn to Silence and War Games. He made his debut in 1965 with The Slender Thread and later appeared in the popular film Tootsie. Between 1980 to 1990 he appeared in various sitcoms like The Slap Maxwell Story, Drexell's Class and "Madman of the People".

Dabney was married twice and had four children from his second wife. His daughter said in a statement, “My father crafted his time here on earth with a curious mind, a generous heart, and a soul on fire with passion, desire and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity.”
