You don't mess with her. You never go against her. Perhaps that's why 'Mere Paas Maa Hai' is the most potent dialogue in the history of Bollywood. Her shy demeanor hides her fiery inner self. On International Mother's Day, we pay tribute to the most badass mothers of Hindi cinema. Take a look:
Nargis in Mother India:
Nargis Dutt knocks it out of the park in her most famous role of a poverty-stricken villager who has to raise her children amid many troubles. Her Goddess-like quality and selfless attitude reflect most Indian mothers who put their children before anything else. In the epic drama, Nargis as Radha was badass and some.
Kirron Kher in Devdas:
In the Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus, Kirron, a lower caste woman, approaches a wealthy Thakurain so their children could marry. Obviously, when the upper caste lady refuses Paro's match for Devdas, Kirron vows revenge. Some might argue that she ruined Paro's life by marrying her off to a man double her age, but she was only trying to show what a badass she is who can get her daughter married off to anybody. Phew. Let's not mess with our mothers.
Raakhi in Karan Arjun:
Well, how can our list not include the most iconic mother of Hindi films? After all, she waited for her sons' reincarnation so as to take revenge. Her blind faith, gumption and patience make her the most feared mother of the celluloid world.
Reema Lagoo in Vaastav:
As an underworld don's mother, she has seen it all. Even though she condemns her son's behaviour, she sticks up to him due her immense love for her only son. But when the need arises, she shoots him too. If that's not badass, we wonder what is.
Vidya Balan in Paa:
When her fling leaves her pregnant, she doesn't mop around but decided to raise their child on her own. Even though her only son has Progeria, she is not seen cursing her fate. She rises to the situation and does everything in her power to save him. In fact, her banter with her old lover is pure class that reflects her willpower and strength.
Which kickass mom do you love the most???
