Making movies is not all glam and fun. It comes with its share of ups and downs, which range from unfavourable audience reactions to political ire…we take a look at five movies that faced the wrath of political parties and moral police…read on:

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil:

In the wake of the Uri attacks and its aftermath, movies starring Pakistani artists have come under major criticism. Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is being traumatised by politicos, with many demanding a ban on it. While single screens will avoid screening it, multiplexes will go ahead with the Diwali release.

My Name is Khan:

The satirical movie came under the spotlight due to Shah Rukh Khan’s remarks regarding his desire to recruit Pakistani players during the IPL. It certainly didn’t go down well with the local political parties.

Kurbaan:

Saif and Kareena’s sizzling chemistry might have fetched it eyeballs, but it didn’t impress local groups who protested against Kareena’s bare back in the film’s poster. The flick was threatened to be stalled and a lot of ruckus was created around the bold scenes and posters of the movie.

PK:

Aamir Khan’s alien act won our hearts, but his quirky take on religions and Gods irked many Hindutva groups that objected to the presentation of Hindus in bad light. While the unit denied such allegations, there was political pandemonium for quite a while.

Haider:

Local ethnic groups and political parties took to the streets to call a ban on the movie for allegedly showing the army in a bad light and for hurting the sentiments of Kashmiris. Despite the chaos, the movie did good business and fetched the lead actors laurels and awards.

That's how it is!
