Must Read: 5 Epic Bollywood dance face-offs

Epic Bollywood dance face-offs

Trust Bollywood to get the dance routine right. We love beautifully choreographed dance numbers. Better still, we absolutely adore dance-offs between two legends.

We round up a list of five epic dance face-offs that have made Bollywood a colourful place…take a look:

Pinga (Bajirao Mastani):

Sanjay Leela Bhansali (SLB) aka the Baap of grand face-offs strikes once again with this traditional Maharashtrian dance. Dressed to the nines in nath, paithani and green glass bangles, both Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra make for a ravishing watch. It’s kind of difficult to choose between the two beauties who sparkles among the background dancers in their graceful avatars.

Dola Re (Devdas):

How can we not include this classic that introduced us to SLB’s brand of lavish sets and dance numbers. With the original Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit matching steps with the ever so elegant Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Dola Re became an instant rage. Is it any wonder that we are still drawn to the song whenever it comes up on TV?

Aami Je Tomar (Bhool Bhulaiyya):

Not many people know of this gorgeous number that has Vidya Balan matching steps with South Indian actor Vineeth, who’s also an accomplished dancer. Their graceful steps, the foot-tapping beats, and Vineeth and Vidya’s chemistry make the number a rocking affair.

Aaja Toh Raja (Raj Tilak):

What do you get when you have professional dancers Padmini and Vyjayantimala in a single frame? Dhammaal, what else? The South Indian beauties, who are both trained in Bharatnatyam, set the stage ablaze with their grace, poignancy and elegance in this classical song from Raj Tilak. Kudos to the actresses, who were rivals at that time, for actually going ahead with this song.

Aplam Chaplam (Azad):

One of the finest choreographed numbers to ever be shot, this black and white ditty, has real life sisters Lata and Usha Mangeshkar giving playback for the reel sisters on the screen. Even though the movie came out in 1955, its sheen and charm remains intact in 2015 as well. Drop us a comment if you can get this song out of your head after a single listen.
