Zoya Akhtar’s latest offering ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (DDD) has garnered much praise from both the audiences and critics alike. Its unique content, stellar casting and hummable songs make it a breezy Bollywood watch. While the nation is going gaga over Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra’s nuanced acting, it’s Anil Kapoor who’s made us sit up and notice! Yes, as the power-hungry tycoon caught in a dysfunctional family, Anil is ‘Jhakaas’. Here’s why:
Dialogue delivery like a pro:
It’s after a while we have seen him doing a full-fledged role, and that too with such fineness. He delivers his dialogues in his trademark way without becoming a caricature of any sorts. Whether it’s the punch lines or monologues, he is at his eloquent best in this movie. He not only gives a mighty takkar to the younger cast, but brazenly steals their thunder with his acting chops. Take a bow, sir!
Magnificent screen presence:
Whenever he is on the screen in DDD, he lights it up with his sheer presence. Perhaps that’s what a Star does! Even when he is emoting with this eyes, he is magnificent as the torn tycoon whose marriage is falling apart, kids are in a soup and his business is suffering a huge loss. It’s difficult to bring all these emotions together, but he does a damn good job with this appearance alone.
Rapport with his co-stars:
Whether it’s his bickering scenes with his wife or his troubled and fed up banter with his kids, he is a notch above the rest, simply because he owns every scene. His rapport and chemistry with his co-stars his par excellence and he makes each of his appearances in the movie memorable and enjoyable.
Infectious energy:
If you though Ranveer was the ultimate energy ball of Bollywood, you’ve obviously not watched this movie because Anil knocks the scenes out of the park with his flamboyant act. But the beauty lies in the way he channelizes the energy into his acting without ever going over-the-top. His dignified businessman image is never compromised, even though his vulnerable side is always ready to peep out. Such diversity to a role! Wow.
