Saif Ali Khan is back after a long hiatus and understandably he is quite excited about his next outing- Bullett Raja. We caught up with Saif to know more about his action packed film.
Saif, tell us what's Bullett Raja all about?
It's about a guy who cannot get a proper job because of the system and therefore ends up becoming a gangster. Later, he transforms himself into a big star in the gang world. The movie will show the nexus between politicians, mafia and police but trust me it is not a boring movie. Rather the action in the movie will entertain you.
There are rumours that the movie is inspired from the life of particular political figure. Is that true?
Bullett Raja is inspired from many people and not from the life of one particular person. It’s definitely not inspired by Amar Singh which perhaps is the rumour doing the rounds.
You feel this is the right time to have done such a role?
Yes. I don't think I would have been able to do such a role about 5 or 10 years back. I think I have understood my acting quite well now. I have got a good grip over things.
Don't you think the negative traits of Bullett Raja matches those of Langda Tyagi from Omkara?
Langda Tyagi was a purely negative character. He never carried the film on his shoulders. In Bullett Raja, I have a hero's role. When you are playing a negative role, you have the support of the hero but when you are the main hero, you have a lot more responsibility.
Would you say this movie brought you out of your comfort zone?
Yes, it did in many ways. For one, the weather was hot and dusty. Secondly, the character is quite unlike me. Starting from the way he talks to the way he walks, the movie did bring me out of my comfort zone.
Having been in this industry for long now, would you say that you have made it large?
Things are going well and I am happy. Our industry is going through an exciting phase with different kinds of films being made. So if you were to ask me what's my best investment, I would say to have joined Bollywood is my best investment ever. So as an actor, I am looking forward to the next five years. Now is the time to do better work and to answer your question, I don't think I have made it large. I have made it okay.
Finally, what do you have to say about Tarun Tejpal?
(Takes a deep pose) I think he is in enough trouble already. I hope this situation sorts itself out. No further comments.
