Moved by MAMI's plight and the current financial woes plaguing it, superstar Aamir Khan has decided to loosen his purse strings and donate generously to keep India's premiere film festival afloat. The actor who like many others must have taken note of Mami's struggle in finding a sponsor this year announced that he is donating 11 lakh for the film festival. Aamir took to Twitter to make this announcement. "Hey guys, the Mumbai Film Festival 'MIFF' needs our help. I'm donating 11 lakhs," wrote Aamir. The actor further implored his followers to come forward and donate generously. "Would be really great if all of you came forward and donated as much as you can to make it happen! Thanks. Love. A," tweeted Aamir. This magnanimity from Aamir will surely help MAMI which has been receiving a steady stream of donations from industrialists and other industry chieftains. As per reports last received, MAMI had collected close to 1.5 crore through funds and donations. Eminent industrialist Anand Mahindra's company Cinestaan Film Company took the lead by donating a princely sum of Rs. 60 Lakh. Other unknown names from Bollywood including Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Hansal Mehta and many others too have pledged to lend their support to the festival. With 5 crore standing as the required budget to host the festival, we are sure noble initiatives like that of Aamir Khan will help MAMI in attaining the target soon. It would be interesting to see if other Bollywood biggies would follow Aamir's footsteps and generously donate towards making Mumbai Film Festival happen this year.
