MUMBAI: In the wake of the #MeToo movement, several women have opened up about the gut-wrenching experience of sexual abuse and assault they had been subjected to at work, naming their alleged perpetrators. After a series of allegations, many celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, and Twinkle Khanna supported the women for speaking out.
Recently, Aamir Khan also lent his support to the #MeToo moment. The actor, who pledged to not work with proven offenders, issued a statement along with wife Kiran Rao. The statement read that the actor has stepped down as a producer of Subhash Kapoor’s upcoming biopic on Gulshan Kumar following the molestation charges levied against him by actor Geetika Tyagi in 2014.
The latest we hear is that Aamir is all set to return with the fourth season of Satyamev Jayate and is likely to deal with issues like female feticide, child sexual abuse, honor killings, rape, and domestic violence in the upcoming season.
As per media reports, the fourth season of the show will air in January 2019 will kick-start with the #MeToo movement. A leading entertainment portal reported that since several women are opening up on their story regarding sexual harassment at workplaces and otherwise, and Aamir wants to throw light on their problems and the issue of their safety.
He has already told his team to do the research, and he will invite the survivors to share their horrifying experiences. He will also get some of the alleged accused on the show to present their point of view.
