After Bihar CM Nitish Kumar requests CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, Rhea’s Lawyer says, ‘transferring case to CBI by Bihar Police is illegal’

According to reports, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has said in a statement that the Bihar Police has no jurisdiction to transfer Sushant Singh Rajput's to the CBI.

MUMBAI: After Sushant Singh Rajput ended his life on June 14, his father Krishan Kishore Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and five others. Later in her defense, Rhea filed a petition in Supreme Court requesting that Sushant’s case should not be transferred to Bihar Police. Ever since FIR has been filed by the late actor’s father, Bihar Police is in Mumbai to investigate the matter in-depth. As the fight between Bihar and Mumbai Police, for the jurisdictions, continues to grow, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has said in a statement that the Bihar Police has no jurisdiction to transfer Sushant Singh Rajput's to the CBI. He also added that Bihar Police has no legal basis for them to get involved.

In a statement, Satish Maneshinde said, “The Petition Filed by Rhea Chakraborty in SC that Bihar Police had no jurisdiction to investigate the case will continue in SC. There cannot be transfer of a case which had no legal basis for Bihar to get involved. At the most, it would be a ‘Zero FIR’ and transferable to Mumbai Police. The transfer of a case on which they had no jurisdiction to CBI has no legal sanctity.”

The statement further read, “Having realised that Bihar has no jurisdiction this illegal method has been adopted. Otherwise you are interfering in the Federal Structure of our Nation in a back door manner. It touches the very root of the Federal Structure on the basis of which India became a Republic by Union of States.”

It’s been nearly 50 days since Mumbai Police have been investigating SSR’s suicide case. Recently, Bihar Police SP Vinay Tiwari was sent to ‘forced quarantine’ after he landed in Mumbai to oversee the probe in the actor’s suicide case. SSR’s death is opening a can of worms right from Day one.
