MUMBAI: Tusshar Kapoor kicked off his acting journey in 2001 with the box office super hit Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and has had an illustrious career ever since. Having done films of various genres like horror, romance, drama and comedy, he was appreciated immensely for his performances in Khakee, The Dirty Picture, Shootout at lokhandwala and Shor in the City, among others. However, it was his impeccable comic timing as a mute character in the blockbuster comic franchise Golmaal, that made him a household name and a favourite among kids and families. Tusshar has always pushed the envelope and reinvented himself with challenging roles and characters. More recently, after completing 20 years in the film industry, the actor donned the hat of a producer with the horror-comedy Laxmii, headlined by superstar Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. Laxmii released pre Diwali to a thunderous response and broke all records to become the biggest movie opener ever, on DisneyplusHotstarVIP.
The multifaceted actor will be back soon with his next production venture, a mystery thriller titled ‘Maarrich’. Tusshar will also be seen showing his acting chops, as one of the central characters in the film. He will be essaying the role of Rajiv, a sharp-witted police officer who lands up with a complicated, double murder case. The film is helmed by debutant director Dhruv Lather who has worked extensively on commercials, music videos and has also shot some international documentaries. Maarrich will also star veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in a pivotal role.
Speaking on his upcoming project, Tusshar shared, "I try to choose scripts which are, most importantly, entertaining and also, potentially clutter breaking in content. Maarrich is an edgy and intriguing dark thriller with elements of mystery, suspense and unpredictability, that set it apart.” He further adds, “The more work experience you gain, the more confident you are about exploring different avenues, both, as an actor and otherwise, too. Therefore, I feel fortunate enough to have chanced upon Maarrich, which I consciously chose to act in and produce as well.
