Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar have been at the receiving end of some harsh criticism ever since the release of the AIB roast video on YouTube. However, Bollywood has by and large stood up for the troika and expressed support in their favour.
Expressing solidarity now is Varun Dhawan who is quite close to all three of them. Varun who was shooting for ABCD2 in Los Angeles last year in December said that it is okay to express both love and dissent for AIB.
“I was in Vegas shooting but from what I have heard, people who have seen it (AIB knockout) have liked it. Yes, there has been a backlash which is fine. If you don't like something, you are free to express it. But if you like something then too you should have the right to express it. As long as norms and rules are in place, it shouldn't bother anyone.”
Varun however didn't say a thumping ‘yes’ when asked if he would like to get roasted ever like Ranveer and Arjun.
“Why would anyone like to get roasted unless it is done for fun. At this time, one will have to wait and see. What AIB did looked like a fun thing but then one will have to wait and see how things pan out. No one would want to do anything that hurts anyone's sentiments.”
Now that’s a valid point, we say. Hurting someone’s sentiments through roast comedy can be dangerous.
