Amitabh Bachchan
In a stunning revelation, megastar Amitabh Bachchan yesterday said at a public function that he was once a TB (tuberculosis) patient and had successfully fought and eliminated it from his system. Amitabh contracted the much dreaded disease in 2000 when he started shooting for Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Amitabh made the announcement yesterday at the launch BMC's TB awareness campaign of which he is the brand ambassador. Speaking about the days as a TB infected patient, Amitabh said, "I was a TB patient years ago. I have never spoken about it on a public platform, but now is the time. If it could happen to me, it can happen to anyone. I was weak and I had lost appetite. Blood tests revealed that I had TB." Fortunately, Amitabh could afford the best of medical services and made a complete recovery. Sharing details about the same, Amitabh said, "I was in a good environment and I was fortunate enough to get healthy food. Sometimes, we do get exposed to the disease at certain places. It didn't take me long to agree to be brand ambassador for this campaign.” Amitabh also had some positive words of encouragement for TB patients. "I would feel tired, loss of appetite. I was diagnosed with TB. The ailment can be treated, one does not need to stop daily routine. I worked on KBC without any problem,” said Amitabh. We truly laud Bachchan for having shared details about his hitherto secretive ailment on a public platform for it could give great inspiration to thousands of TB patients in the country to fight the disease successfully.
