I consider myself a dancer first: Jennifer Lopez
She is a singer and an actress, but Jennifer Lopez says she always considers herself a dancer first.
"I always consider myself a dancer first because I became a singer and an actress after I was a dancer," Lopez said.
"That was the first thing my mom put me in when I was five years old. That was my first form of artistic expression," she added.
Lopez added that she is enjoying her stint as a judge on the reality show World of Dance.
It is so part of who I am that to watch it now and to be able to see kids who are -- what? -- nine, 10, 11 or 12 years old and then to see people who have been doing it for so long and are a seasoned couple dancing together, it just reminded me of all of the reasons why I love dancing, why I wanted to do this in the first place."
McGregor was perfect for 'Christopher Robin': Director
Director Marc Forster says actor Ewan McGregor was apt for the live action film Christopher Robin because of his ability to capture the essence of youthfulness.
"Ewan and I worked together before (in the 2005 thriller Stay), and I knew he was perfect as Christopher Robin.... Not only can he do drama and comedy as we have seen him do in so many versatile roles, but he also embodies this youthfulness," Forster said in a statement.
"As I've said before, I believe this film is for everyone, and everyone reads something into the movie and Ewan was able to capture that spirit that was needed to portray an adult Christopher Robin," he added.
Disney's Christopher Robin brings the timeless charm of A.A. Milne's stories and characters to the big screen.
The film narrates the story of a boy who embarks on a journey full of adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals. In the film, he has grown up and lost his way.
It also features the voices of Jim Cummings, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi and Sophie Okonedo. The film is slated to release in India on Friday.
Talking about the film, he said, "What truly attracted me to Christopher Robin is that you have a character like Winnie the Pooh that I truly love and who is beloved worldwide, in a completely original concept, which you seldom see in this day and age.
Academy adds new Oscar category for popular films
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Wednesday announced a number of changes to the Oscars, including introduction of a new category.
From next year, there will be an award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film. This is first time a new Oscar category has been introduced since Best Animated Film in 2001. Details on eligibility are yet to be announced, said a report published in online edition of The Guardian.
In a letter sent to its members, the Academy also announced that the telecast will now be kept to under three hours, which means that some of the 24 categories will be announced during commercial breaks and then edited into the ceremony later on.
This year's ceremony, which saw The Shape of Water take the top award, ran to just under four hours.
"We are committed to producing an entertaining show in three hours, delivering a more accessible Oscars for our viewers worldwide," the letter read.
The moves are seen as new ways for the Oscars to appeal to a wider audience. This year's ceremony saw the lowest US viewership in history and the contending films were mainly lower budgeted fare with solid box office.
In 2009, the Best Picture race was opened up from five to a possible 10 nominees, seen as a way of bringing in bigger blockbusters. Since then, Avatar, Inception, The Martian, Gravity and Toy Story 3 have all received nominations.
The most recent induction of new Academy members was also seen as a way of broadening the institution with its most diverse set to date, including Amy Schumer, Daniel Kaluuya and Tiffany Haddish.
The 91st Academy Awards will be held on 24 February, 2019.
"Even before I read the script, I was thinking to myself, I'm in. The story is for a child as much as for a grown-up, and everybody who sees it walks away with their own truth of whatever they want to read into it.
"But in addition to what Pooh is saying, there is a certain amount of comedy and humour to it so that we don't take ourselves too serious, and it was extremely important to me to capture that."
Lady Gaga announces dates for Las Vegas residency shows
Singer-actress Lady Gaga says that she will perform two shows as part of her Las Vegas residency on 28 December.
The shows "Enigma" and "Jazz And Piano" will take place at the Park theatre at the new Park MGM resort in Las Vegas, reports variety.com.
"Lady Gaga Enigma" is a brand-new odyssey of her pop hits while "Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano" will feature stripped-down versions of her hits as well as music from the 'Great American Songbook'.
The singer said, "I can't wait to share 'Enigma' with all of my fans and with Las Vegas. We're creating a show unlike anything I've done before. It will be a celebration of all that is unique and different within us.
"The challenges of bravery can be overcome with creativity and courage that is grown out of adversity, love and music."
Bill Hornbuckle, President of MGM Resorts International, said, "Working with Lady Gaga and her team has been a career highlight for me. What she is planning for Las Vegas audiences is nothing short of spectacular."
On the film front, the 32-year-old actress will play a music star in A Star Is Born alongside actor Bradley Cooper.
Ben Schwartz to voice 'Sonic the Hedgehog' in movie
Actor Ben Schwartz has been roped in to voice the title character "Sonic the Hedgehog" in the upcoming movie.
James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and Jim Carrey will also star in the live-action hybrid, reports variety.com.
Jeff Fowler, who received an Oscar nomination for his 2005 animated short Gopher Broke, is helming the movie, which will blend live-action and computer graphic elements.
Paramount Pictures has given "Sonic the Hedgehog" a holiday-season release of 15 November, 2019.
The project, based on the Sega video game franchise, had been in the works at Sony, but the studio let its film rights lapse and Paramount picked up the project in October 2017.
Sega launched the Sonic game in 1991 and has sold more than 360 million copies to date, including both packaged and digital games on consoles, tablets, and mobile.
The game features a hedgehog named Sonic on a quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds.
Schwartz is no stranger to voicing classic characters.
He is currently voicing Dewey Duck on the reboot of Duck Tales and will voice Leonardo in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
