MUMBAI: Anshumaan Pushkar is an acclaimed Indian actor known for his powerful screen presence and nuanced performances across digital, film, and theatre platforms. Hailing from Mokama in Bihar, Anshumaan’s journey from small-town India to national recognition is a story of quiet resilience and artistic commitment.
After completing his MBA from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Mumbai, he trained under Nadira Babbar’s renowned theatre group Ekjute, where he honed his craft through stage work before making his foray into screen acting.
Anshumaan first gained attention with his role as Rocky in the Netflix breakout series Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega (2020–2022), a gritty drama that earned him recognition for his raw and grounded portrayal. He further established his acting credentials with a deeply sensitive performance as Rishi Ranjan in the Hotstar series Grahan (2021), set against the backdrop of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The role earned him a nomination for Best Actor (Drama Series) at the Filmfare OTT Awards.
He continued to diversify his portfolio with roles in Kathmandu Connection (SonyLIV), Bhasad, and Chandrashekhar, showcasing a range that spans intense drama to layered thrillers. In 2023, he featured in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s acclaimed film 12th Fail, playing the memorable role of Gauri Bhaiya—an inspiring mentor figure—which further solidified his place as an actor to watch.
Most recently, Anshumaan has been seen alongside Rajkummar Rao in the upcoming film Maalik, a high-octane action thriller where he undertakes physically demanding stunts and shares screen space with one of his favorite actors. His experience on Maalik reflects his evolving creative process, blending physicality with emotional depth.
