MUMBAI: Babil Khan, known for his eclectic choice of roles, is set to feature in the Indo-American short film Yakshi. Starring alongside acclaimed Malayalam actress Anna Ben (Kumbalangi Nights, Helen), the film is written and directed by Karan Sunil and produced by Lambe Log Productions.
Blending Indian folklore with contemporary storytelling, Yakshi promises a fresh cinematic experience. While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, Babil’s involvement hints at another layered performance from the actor.
Anna Ben recently shared behind-the-scenes moments from the set, expressing gratitude for the experience. In a heartfelt post, she wrote:
"This was truly written in the stars. Had the most amazing time working with these wonderful human beings. @ksunzz @lambelogproductions, thank you for trusting me to be Maya. Thank you for letting me discover a whole new side as an artist. And most importantly, giving everyone a safe space to work and collaborate. @babil.i.k, you are an absolute darling! I hope we get to work together more and can’t wait to see you do all the wonderful things you are dreaming to do."
Accompanied by candid pictures from the set, her post has heightened anticipation for the film, particularly for Babil’s role.
As he continues to carve a niche in unconventional cinema, Babil also has an upcoming love story directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sai Rajesh. Yakshi adds yet another intriguing project to his diverse filmography.
