After their successful filming partnership on Tubelight, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of director Kabir Khan and actor Salman Khan. The director of 2012's Ek Tha Tiger and 2015's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir, recently discussed the reasons behind the success of their collaborations. He said they were lucky that the story and characters they wrote resonated with readers. Kabir also agreed that Salman Khan's enormous fame contributed significantly to the success of their respective movies.
Although there has been much conjecture in the entertainment press regarding a potential Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel, Kabir has a strong opinion against them. He is adamant that not every popular film requires a follow-up. Kabir revealed that following the success of each of his popular movies—whether it was New York, Ek Tha Tiger, or Bajrangi Bhaijaan—people had requested a follow-up. But he never did, believing that a sequel should only occur when a story is truly worthy of carrying on the original narrative.
Kabir clarified that he would only think about producing a Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel in the event that a screenplay emerged that was strong enough to further the plot. According to him, the quality of the new narrative should be taken into consideration rather than only the first movie's box office performance. Therefore, even though fans may be eager for a sequel, Kabir will only approve a script if it satisfies his exacting requirements for narrative quality.
