Corporate chieftains obsessed with making money can also be ‘mad about movies’!!!! The 59th Filmfare Awards marks a record fifth time of the event’s partnership with PC Jewellers, jeweller for generations. And this association started in 2010 only because of Balram Garg’s (MD of the Company) being an ardent movie buff and a ‘superstar’ struck fan. You will often see him hobnobbing with the Khans, the Kapoors, the Roshans and the Bachchans of the Bollywood world.
The modest, reticent and shy Balram Garg loves watching all kinds of films (especially dubbed south Indian films to have a hearty laugh and distress). A favourite amongst the stars that ‘glitter on the Bollywood sky’, Garg has the vision and foresight to associate his PCJ brand with the premier film awards function to get optimum mileage amongst the desired target groups. In fact, Garg rarely makes public appearances but is definitely seen giving Filmfare Awards to Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for the best critics’ film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ or Annu Kapoor for ‘Vicky Donor’ - with Bollywood belles Bipasha Basu or Neha Dhupia alongside him as he presented the awards. In fact, he has been instrumental in ensuring that the India International Jewellery Show is studded with Bollywood stars such as Madhuri Dixit or Chitrangada Singh walking the ramp, with him of course.
Speaking exclusively to Tellychakkar.com, Garg says, “Filmfare awards are one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the country today and garner a huge fan following of millions of citizens of India as well as of the elite society. Since many years, Filmfare has been supporting and recognizing initiatives with a motive to promote art, culture and women empowerment. As jewellery is an integral part of women and the glamour world, this association with the Filmfare Awards helps promoting the brand PCJ and ensures appropriate national visibility. We have been associating with Filmfare awards since 4 years and our partnership for the 59th Filmfare Awards is our 5th year in a row.”
“Filmfare Awards today have already become a much sought event and amongst the film fraternity and has over the years accumulated high acclaim for the recognition it gives to the winners and nominees. The scrupulous selection of the best of cinema in Bollywood with a motif to praise their commendable performances over the years is creditable,” adds Garg.
Well, if you are at the 59th Filmfare Awards at Yashraj Studios today and spot some stars adorned in real jewellery (most stylists choose to use cosmetic or imitation jewellery to adorn the stars), rest assured that they would be from PC Jeweller.
And in case you miss being there, you can catch all the action on 26 January on Sony TV, 8 pm onwards.
