Ban Revoked for Pakistani actors Danish Taimoor, Mawra Hocane and Yumna Zaidi; restrictions still in place for Ayeza Khan, Fawad & Mahira Khan

Following the conclusion of the recent India–Pakistan conflict, social media platforms appear to have eased restrictions on several Pakistani celebrities. However, the unblocking seems to be selective in nature, as a few high-profile actors still find their accounts either partially suspended or completely inaccessible

MUMBAI: In a striking turn of events, the digital curtain that had fallen over several Pakistani celebrities has now been partially lifted.

Popular stars Danish Taimoor, Mawra Hocane and Yumna Zaidi have had their social media access reinstated, following weeks of online silence enforced by platform restrictions.

The decision marks a pivotal moment in an ongoing saga that has gripped both the entertainment world and social media users across the subcontinent.

All three actors, known for their strong presence in Pakistani television and cinema, have now regained full control of their official accounts.

Their return has been met with an outpouring of support from fans, who flooded timelines with celebratory messages and welcomed them back into the digital spotlight.

However, not all names have seen the same resolution. Acclaimed stars Ayeza Khan, Fawad Khan, and Mahira Khan remain digitally sidelined, with their accounts still under restriction.

These prominent figures, each boasting millions of admirers around the globe, continue to face curtailed online activity, sparking growing concern and debate over the uneven approach to content regulation.

The roots of this controversy trace back to heightened geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir.

As military responses escalated and the political climate intensified, several Pakistani artists used their platforms to express strong opinions, many of which were viewed as inflammatory by Indian audiences.

In response, social media giants moved swiftly to curb what was deemed as potentially divisive content, leading to a blanket ban on numerous Pakistani accounts.

Now, as some restrictions begin to ease, many are questioning the rationale behind whose bans are lifted and whose are not. The reinstatement of Taimoor, Hocane and Zaidi has been widely celebrated, but it has also amplified calls for greater transparency and consistency in the enforcement of content policies.

Online, hashtags in support of Ayeza, Fawad and Mahira continue to trend, with fans urging platforms to review remaining restrictions. “This feels selective,” wrote one user. “Why are only some voices allowed back? Either lift the ban entirely or explain why others are still silenced.”

As the digital space becomes an increasingly political arena, the entertainment industry finds itself caught in the crossfire.

For now, the return of three beloved stars offers a flicker of progress. But the fate of others remains uncertain.
