Bandaa Singh Chaudhary is the latest movie starring Arshad Warsi and Meher Vij. The movie is directed by Abhishek Saxena and tells the story about Punjab after the partition.

MUMBAI: When thinking about British Raj, Indian Independence and aftermath of partition, we come across so many stories on social media and even in movies. One movie that we can think of is Bhaag Milkha Bhaag where we see how the partition affected so many lives but all is says is that we still know everything about that time. However, we have come across a story of Bandaa Singh Chaudhary, and this untold story was necessary to be told.

Bandaa Singh Chaudhary the movie, shows a story that covers a good chunk of the real life story and when it comes to the story told in movie, it showed great potential. Seeing Arshad Warsi and Meher Vij in leads does look good and they give a really good performance.

It’s not just Arshad Warsi and Meher Vij but all the other actors from the cast – Shataf Figar, Shilpi Marwaha, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia, and Alisha Chopra have given really powerful performance. How can we forget Kiara Khanna? There are some really sweet and funny moments of Arshad Warsi, Meher Vij and Kiara Khanna. Even Jeeveshu Ahluwalia and Arshad Warsi have a great chemistry as friends in the movie.

The BGM of the movie gives the right vibes and the moment the BGM starts, we get to know exactly what the scene is going to be about. While the BGM sounds good, it somehow fails to create that effect which is required.

The story had immense potential to drive our emotions and at moments it really builds up a good amount of curiosity. However, the screenplay misses the point by an inch as it doesn’t give the correct flow to the scenes. Meanwhile, the performance that we get to see in the movie, makes up for it very well.

Director Abhishek Saxena deserves appreciation for bringing out this untold story and adding the required emotions to it. In this case, writers Shaheen Iqbal who co-wrote the story with Abhishek Saxena also deserves all the credit.

In conclusion, it was story that holds a lot of potential, it was conveyed with required emotions but if the screenplay would be better, it would have been a really good experience.

Tellychakkar gives this movie 2/5.
