Being gray, fair or unfair? Somy Ali's short documentary Gray puts forth a valid question

MUMBAI: Former Bollywood actress and No More Tears NGO founder Somy Ali, with her production house Somy Ali Productions, has created a very thought-provoking short documentary titled Gray, which at its core revolves around the emotions that rule our lives. The eight-minute-long video revolves around the complexities of human emotions, mental health, and how society perceived vulnerability.

Gray focuses on how our emotions are mostly in between the stark white and black extremes and fall under the gray category. The film also encourages the viewers to reflect on their own emotional states and the pressures of navigating life’s uncertainties.

The highlight of the documentary has to be Somy's hard-hitting narration that goes perfectly well with scenes focusing on the harsh realities of life. From mental health struggles to abuses—mental, physical, and emotional—and even our own internal battles, her documentary dives deeper into the human psyche and challenges the viewers to think how emotions are perceived and dealt within the society.

Showcasing scenes from atrocities all around the world, Gray stands out for its background that goes well with the title. A truly impactful film that she has dedicated to late Bollywood actors Divya Bharti and Sushant Singh Rajput, it will help the viewers take away the message that emotions are not always well-defined, and that's fine.

It encourages the viewers to embrace vulnerability as a source of strength rather than something to be ashamed of. The documentary is a powerful reminder that we are all navigating the gray areas of life, and it is in these moments that true connection and understanding can be found.
