MUMBAI: Actress Alia Bhatt has managed to carve her niche in Bollywood by delivering some stellar performances. The actress who marked her Bollywood debut with film Student of the Year went on to win the hearts of the audience with her acting skills in films like Udta Punjab, Highway, Raazi, Dear Zindagi and many others. Now, amidst the sparked up nepotism debate on social media, an old video of Alia Bhatt talking about replacing another Bollywood actress for a role in Gauri Shinde’s film Dear Zindagi goes viral on the internet.

On Twitter, in a throwback video, when Rajeev Masand asked Alia Bhatt about how he heard that the makers of film Dear Zindagi were supposed to make the film with another actress, and it was Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar who convinced director Gauri Shinde that she wouldn’t look too young for the role, Alia admitted to the fact that another actress was to star in Dear Zindagi.
Answering the question, Alia Bhatt said, “That I don’t know about. I know that there was someone else on board earlier and then there was a conversation about maybe going to me and that's all I know." As Alia accepted having replaced another Bollywood actress to play the role in Dear Zindagi opposite Shah Rukh Khan, rumours were rife that it was actress Katrina Kaif who was earlier on board and it was Bhatt who replaced her when SRK and KJo convinced Gauri Shinde that she wouldn’t look too young for the role.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt also revealed how she dialled Kalank director Abhishek Varman to tell him that she would be extremely upset if he did not consider her for a role in the film. Dear Zindagi starred Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. Directed by Gauri Shinde, the film was Alia’s first project with King Khan.
