MUMBAI: The role of actor Shantanu Maheshwari in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Gangubai Kathiawadi" marked a significant turning point in his career. Shantanu, who is mostly recognized for his work in dance and television, reached a major turning point in his career when he made the move to the big screen. He now discussed how this movie gave him a strong sense of validation in addition to advancing his career in an exclusive conversation with an entertainment portal.

Shantanu claimed in an interview with an entertainment portal that he felt validated as an actor after landing the role of "Gangubai Kathiawadi." His confidence was bolstered by the fact that he felt recognized by both the industry and critics.
He said, "The awareness that I can act, someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali has picked me up, so there is a kind of validation which the industry gets.”
He further added, “The industry notices I have done a project with a big director which has clicked with the audience also. So, definitely, that has happened. In the projects that have been offered, people see me in a different light. So there is a big change. Even in terms of my performance, I feel there's a lot of difference. I used to be a different performer before Gangubai, and I am a different performer now. I am happy with this."
Afsaan was portrayed by Shantanu in "Gangubai Kathiawadi." The biographical drama film, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is based on the life of Gangubai Kothewali, a strong woman in Mumbai's Kamathipura red-light district in the 1960s.
Shantanu's upcoming role is in Neeraj Pandey's upcoming movie, "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha," which opens on July 5. Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Saiee Manjrekar also feature in the movie.
