MUMBAI: Being in the limelight has both its pros and cons. While celebs get immense love from their fans and followers, oftentimes they can be targetted by people with malicious intent.
One such incident made headlines recently after a house help was arrested for stealing valuables from late Bollywood actor and legendary singer Kishore Kumar's Mumbai home. It so happened after Kumar's granddaughter Vrinda Ganguly filed an FIR and accused the man of stealing valuables, including a ceiling fan, water pump, mixie and home theatre music system worth Rs 2 lakh from their Mumbai bungalow.
The 24-year-old accused was arrested from a railway station in Mumbai after he went missing since the theft was unearthed a few days ago.
However, this is not the first time when celebs had been victims of theft. Names like Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Bachchan family, among a few other celebs have their properties broken into in the past.
In 2008, a robber broke into the Bachchan's household 'Jalsa' and was later arrested by the police. Sharing the same on his blog, Amitab Bachchan wrote, "Spent some anxious moments yesterday since we had a break-in! The guy was caught and is with the police now under investigation. Seems like a professional, for he had entered the most sensitive area of the house, Jalsa. A theft of Rs 25,000 also took place in their Jalsa bungalow in 2013 and a probe was also launched by the Mumbai police soon after.
In 2013, Kajol and Ajay Devgn had a frightening experience after burglars broke into their Juhu residence and reportedly escaped with 17 gold bangles. The police, reportedly, recovered 4 of the bangles intact, the rest were reported to be melted. The couple's domestic help was arrested for robbery. Four months after her wedding, there was a robbery at Sonam Kapoor's aunt's house. Lots of cash along with goods worth lakhs, mobile phones, cash, etc. were stolen from the actress' wedding venue Rockdale.
Shilpa Shetty and businessman Raj Kundra's Juhu residence was robbed in 2013 during which an expensive music system and iPod were reported missing from the house. An FIR was filed by the couple's house manager but no one was caught so far.
A cash amount worth Rs 2.25 lakh, a 10 gm gold coin, and designer clothes were stolen from Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan Sharma and actor-husband Aayush Sharma's household in 2016.
