MUMBAI: After the sudden death of Mumbai-based talent manager Disha Salian, the probe initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation has finally come to an end. A source close to the case revealed that the conclusion is that her death was an accident. Although the talent agency had not filed a different FIR into Disha’s death, the matter was probed into as there was a seeming connection with Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
According to reports, Disha Salian aged 28, had fallen from the 14th floor of the Galaxy Regent building in Malad in Suburban Mumbai on the intervening night of June 8-9, 2020. She died five days prior to when the body of Sushant was found at his rented house in Bandra on 14 June. After that, BJP leader Nitesh Rane claimed that both deaths were linked.
The talent agency, which is treating Rajput to be a case of death by suicide, has been investigating the possibility of abetment, if any, before filing its closure report in the matter.
A senior official told a reporter anonymously, “Since serious allegations were levelled in the Salian matter and claims were made that the two deaths were linked, as Salian had briefly worked for Rajput, her death has been probed in detail.” He continued saying, “The investigation has revealed that Salian had been organising get-togethers at her residence in the run-up to her birthday. The party on June 8th night was part of it. However, that night, Salian, who had consumed alcohol, lost her balance and slipped from the parapet of her flat.”

The official said that thorough investigation was carried out, including recording statements of eyewitnesses who had attended the party, forensic reports and observations from the reconstruction exercise which was carried out, to come to know what the nature of her injuries could be when someone is pushed from such high-up floors.
The official added, “Other than a few chats, which were in connection to a brand-building exercise, nothing more was found between Salian and Rajput. While Rajput had searched on Google news reports on him and Salian in the week preceding his suicide, there is nothing to show that her death triggered his suicide. They are two different incidents that are unfortunately linked.”
Another official said that, “The probe hasn’t found any substance in the allegations levelled by Rane that Salian was assaulted and had approached Rajput for help and that there is a larger political conspiracy at play. It was necessary to probe the circumstances owing to the sensitive nature of the case and the nature of allegations.”
There are almost three agencies that are probing the death of the actor. The CBI is still probing into the cause of death, and a case of abetment to suicide, registered against six, including Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family members, while the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is probing the drug link to his death.
In September, 2020, a report by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences ruled out poisoning as the possible cause of death in this case.
