MUMBAI: From the makers of Stree 2, there came a historical story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (Played by Vicky Kaushal). We even got to watch Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai.
This is truly an unseen pair which got a pretty good reaction from the audience. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie hit the theatres on 14th February. Be it the songs or the trailer, it all received some amazing responses with special appreciation for Akshaye Khanna who plays the role of Auranzeb.
After the movie hit the big screens, on its first day, the movie opened up with a huge collection of around Rs 31 Cr India net. Meanwhile, it made a total of around Rs 47.25 Cr globally. The Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer had a great opening.
In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, Laxman Utekar was asked if he always had Vicky Kaushal in his mind for the movie or not. The director revealed something insightful.
Laxman Utekar said, “I was always having Vicky Kaushal in my mind” When asked why so, he revealed, “First of all Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s image, whatever I have seen, was tall, he was big, he was like pehelwan, and more than that I wanted someone who’s pure. I wanted someone who’s a nice human, to play this character.”
The director added, “...While shooting Zara Hatke only I had told Vicky ke ‘aap kar rahe ho Chhaava’ Tab se maine Vicky ko bol ke rakha tha”
He further added, “The most important thing is for this kind of role you have to have an actor who is dedicated, who’s ready to give time and unhone kuch 8 mahine toh unki body banane ke liye kasrat ki hai so that shows and I knew the kind of person he is and we all can see the final output”
When asked if he feels Vicky Kaushal can get a second National Award, the director said, “He should. He deserves that I believe.”
