MUMBAI: We have seen a lot of intense cop thrillers and the one that instantly comes to our mind is Ajay Devgn’s Singham. Well, things are now getting more intense as Shahid Kapoor has entered the list with his cop avatar in the latest movie ‘Deva’.
The movie features Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde in leads and one thing you cannot overlook is the powerful tortured cop persona that Shahid Kapoor portrays as Dev, which will surely remind you of some old Amitabh Bachchan movies.
The movie keeps you at the edge of your seat for two reasons – Shahid Kapoor’s style and the plot of the movie. Surely the director Rosshan Adrrews along with writers Sumit Arora, Bobby and Abbas Dalal have done a good job in keeping the audience intrigued. One thing missing in the movie was the emotional depth which might make some audiences to struggle to connect with the movie but Shahid Kapoor’s swag, his chemistry with Pooja Hegde who plays the role of an investigative journalist, and performances by Kubbra Sait, Pravesh Rana and Pavail Gulati make up for what’s missing.
Kubbra Sait never fails to impress the audience with her performances and even here, she has really established herself. Her role in the movie is essential to the plot and fans are sure to love it. Meanwhile another actor who left an impact on screen was Upendra Limaye who entertained the audience with his humour despite having a cameo role.
In conclusion, the story is on a slow burner and engaging for sure. Shahid Kapoor rises up to be the shining factor of the movie and it’s clearly a must-watch for all the action and cop thriller lovers, especially for Shahid Kapoor fans.
