MUMBAI: One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has encountered a major roadblock just ahead of its release.
Produced by Karan Johar under the prestigious Dharma Productions banner, the film has reportedly run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its sensitive portrayal of caste discrimination.
According to industry reports, the censor board has expressed concerns over certain scenes and dialogues that may require modifications before the film gets its clearance.

The intense and hard-hitting narrative of Dhadak 2 has sparked deliberations within the CBFC over its certification rating and potential edits.
Originally slated for a November 2024 release, the film was later pushed to 2025.
Recent reports suggest that the makers are eyeing a Holi 2025 release. However, with just a few weeks left until the festival, the absence of promotional activities has raised speculation about whether the film will make it to cinemas on time.
A source close to the development revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “Dhadak 2 tackles caste-based issues in a gripping and thought-provoking manner.
The CBFC's Examining Committee (EC) acknowledged the significance of the film’s subject but is currently assessing what rating it should receive and whether any scenes require alterations.”
Interestingly, Dhadak 2 is a remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, which had no trouble securing clearance from the CBFC at the time of its release.
This has led to discussions about whether the Hindi adaptation will face similar scrutiny or if it will require edits to align with regulatory guidelines.
With its powerful storyline and impactful performances, Dhadak 2 has already piqued the curiosity of moviegoers. Now, all eyes are on the CBFC’s final decision. If the film gets clearance soon, it will release as per the current schedule in May 2024.
