MUMBAI: It has hardly happened in 2022 that a Bollywood film has done exceptionally well in its second weekend as well! Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, and Shriya Saran starrer Drishyam 2 is unstoppable at the box office. The film in its second weekend minted Rs. 39.24 crores taking the total to Rs. 143.90 crores to date.
On the other hand, we have Bhediya which in three days collected Rs. 28.55 crores. The film took a slow start at the box office and though it showed growth over the weekend, the collection is not great. On Sunday, the film collected Rs. 11.50 crore, and this should actually have been the opening day collection of the film followed by a good jump on the second and third day, but that didn’t happen.
One of the reasons that Bhediya is affected at the box office is because of Drishyam 2. In week one, the Ajay Devgn starrer had created such an excellent buzz that audiences were keen to watch the movie in its second weekend. Maybe, if Drishyam 2 had received an average to decent response, it would have not affected the Varun Dhawan starrer that much.
Now, all eyes are on the weekdays. After looking at the weekend collection, it looks like Drishyam 2 will lead, and Bhediya needs to hold well to collect some decent numbers in week 1.
This week’s release An Action Hero, has not created a good pre-release buzz and it depends on word of mouth. So, Drishyam 2 can continue its excellent run in the 3rd week also, and Bhediya might get some benefit if the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer goes unnoticed.
