Team Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami recently paid an ode to R K Laxman's Common Man Statue installed at the Worli Sea Face.
The very well known cartoon character 'The Common Man' sketched by the legendary R K Laxman has represented the hopes, aspirations, troubles and foibles of the average Indian, through a daily comic strip for years. This is the same common man that Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami professes to showcase by revolving the story around the common man. The entire team got together to celebrate the spirit of the common man.
Anupam Kher who will be seen playing the role of a common man in the film felicitated the statue with a flower garland and spoke about its symbolic significance. The actor along with other starcast of the movie also released first song of the film Tod de Kataar at the ceremony.
Said Anupam Kher, "It's wonderful to release our song alongside the statue of R K Laxman's creation of Common Man. The film is about the extraordinary struggle & courage of an ordinary man. Thematically both blended very well."
Talking about the importance of launching the song in a unique manner, producer Abhinav Shukla said, "Keeping in mind we have a strong common men connect in the film, we deemed it only fit that the first song goes out as a dedication to them. What better place to release it hence, other than the epitomised common man statue!"
Speaking about the song, Debutant director Ravindra Gautam said, "Titled 'break the line, break the queue', this fast-paced number is a complete ode to the man who needs to break out of the line to do what is unimaginable of him and put an end to his unexciting existence."
The film is set to release on 10 October (2014).
