MUMBAI: Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Parineeti Chopra is slated to release on 11th November 2022. The pre-release buzz about the movie is decent, but this year, not many mid-budgets films have done well at the box office. Even Amitabh Bachchan’s last film Goodbye which also starred Neena Gupta had failed to get the audiences to the theatres.

We interacted with producer and film business expert, Girish Johar, and spoke to him about Uunchai. When we asked him what can be the film’s performance at the box office, he told us, “Uunchai has a very good ensemble cast and it’s coming from a big production house like Rajshri, and Sooraj Barjatya has directed it. Also, the way the film has been marketed it is completely based on word of mouth. I know that mid-budgets films aren’t working at the box office. But, with strong word of mouth it has chances and I am pinning my hopes because of the ensemble cast and Rajshri. So, with word of mouth, it can have a long run at the box office for sure.”
When we asked Girish Johar about the advance bookings and what can be the day 1 box office collection of Uunchai, he stated, “The advance bookings are below par, but I can say that it can get an opening in the range of Rs. 1.50-2 crore and if the word of mouth is excellent it can go up as well.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Yashoda is also slated to release on 11th November 2022. It’s a Telugu movie but will be dubbed and released in Hindi as well. While talking about Yashoda in Hindi, Johar told us that it also depends on the word of mouth just like Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara.
Now, let’s wait and watch how Uunchai and Hindi version of Yashoda will perform at the box office.
