MUMBAI :Gadar 2 was one of the most anticipated movies on television. Starring Sunny Deol and Amesha Patel, it also featured talented actor Akash Dhar. In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, Akash shared his experience shooting for the film and now that the movie has also been released on Zee5, he spilled beans on the BTS moments too.
Take a look:
Please tell us more about your character in the movie…
So he is a Canadian major marshal in the name of Major Bhargav Masand who is relentless, patriotic, honest and intelligent. He cares a lot about his team that is stuck with him in the middle of a war. He is a very determined character as there are a lot of hardships that he goes through throughout the course of the film. Despite having many problems he shows courage and overcomes obstacles. It is really commendable with the way our army has been taking care of us and protecting our borders several notches higher. I feel blessed to play such a character and hats off to the way the pull it off.
How has your experience been with your co-actors?
It was absolutely wonderful shooting with Sunny Deol and the rest of the team. We were assisting each other, performing stunts, and we also got injured at times. There was medical assistance available but it was really nice to see we helping and packing for each other. All the boys and girls who were shooting with me what absolutely wonderful and even the main villain Manish Wadhwa was superb. Everybody was in the character and helping each other out. There was a lot of happiness and brotherhood around.
Any memories you take back?
The very first shot where there was a tank and we were on it. The tank goes up the hill and has to come down. We had done rehearsals but when the actual time came in to give the shot, it was scary. Then the director and action director convinced that nothing will happen and that you should give it a shot. The scene has come out so well and there was no fear on the face too. I was wondering if the tank would topple but I learnt that tanks do not topple and that's the beauty of it.
It increased my respect for the Army all the more.
Any memories of Gadar which came back while shooting for the show?
I was a teenager when I saw Gadar and memories of the film came rushing back while shooting the sequence. As a teenager when I watched a person doing things for the country gave me a different emotional high and I felt like I could do anything in this world.
Future projects that you are looking forward to?
I am working on a few projects which I cannot talk about but in due course of time I shall reveal it. I have a web series lined up titled ‘Screwed Up’ which is coming on Disney+Hotstar in the next two months.
