MUMBAI :On 4th November 2022, three Bollywood biggies released in theaters; Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter, and Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer Phone Bhoot, Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili, and Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi starrer Double XL. All the three films got mixed reviews from critics and the audiences, but at the box office they have proved to be duds. While Phone Bhoot did better than other three releases, it is still on the lower side.
Phone Bhoot collected Rs. 7.85 crore at the box office in three days, and Double XL and Mili were unsatisfactory.

Girish Johar said, “Primarily, the promotions were not engaging barring some noise created by Phone Bhoot. The other two films I don’t think engaged themselves aggressively in promotions. Secondly, these kinds of films are very OTT friendly and urban in nature. Such similar story structures and content are available on the OTT platforms. So, the audiences were not enticed to come to the theaters for these films.”
“Producers themselves are lacking confidence. They don’t want to go all out and promote the films; they are not confident about the box office. So, one factor is affecting others,” he further added.
While Bollywood releases couldn’t make a mark at the box office, the Hindi dubbed version of Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara did exceptionally well during the weekend. The film in its fourth weekend collected Rs. 10.75 crore, taking the till date total to Rs. 62.40 crore which is much more than the lifetime collection of many Bollywood biggies that were released this year.
