All along we have seen Hollywood recruits making their presence in Bollywood films but no name was worth the mention.
And now for a first, a named Hollywood star John DeLong, who was last seen in The Expendables, is all set to make his Bollywood debut in Rajiv Ruia's film Flames.
DeLong, who has also done films like Deadliest Prey and The Phoenix Risesi, will be seen playing a reporter with a channel who would come to India to research a project. "He will study a few tribal villages in Chattisgarh where women are still exploited under the guise of black magic. I had read about these disturbing age-old practices and wanted to make a film on it," said the director in a statement.
It so happened that Ruia got to know DeLong through a common friend and mailed him the script. "He didn't take long to say 'yes'," the excited director said.
Talking of the film, Ruia observed, "We have recreated parts of Chattisgarh in a Gujarat village and have hired many of the locals to be a part of the film in some or the other way. They are all very excited about making their Bollywood debut with a Hollywood actor."
The film also stars Hrishitaa Bhatt whom DeLong meets in India and falls in love with.
Rajiv had earlier directed films like My Friend Ganesha and Main Krishna Hoon.
