MUMBAI: Popular film producer and director Vipul Amrutlal Shah and his business partner have landed in trouble as they have been cheated. The producer has filed a case against three people for allegedly cheating him of Rs 5 crores by luring him and his partner into investing in iridium business. The case has been registered in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district; the EOW arrested one Raj Singh under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
As per the complaint filed by Vipul, in 2010, the accused had approached him and his partner by promising to invest Rs 100 crores in film production.
The accused told Shah and his partner that they were in the profitable business of collecting antiques and British-era coins which contain iridium, which is a rare metal. The accused allegedly offered Mr Shah and Mr Singh an opportunity to invest in this business.
Mr Shah mentioned in his complaint that he and his partner had travelled to many countries with the accused. They travelled on their own money and even transferred some amount to the accused, in connection with the ‘business’ before they realized that they were being cheated.
Vipul Shah told police that they had spent a whopping amount of 5 crores during these travels.
Well, we hope, Vipul gets back his money.
