MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan has been mesmerizing fans since the beginning of his career and conquering hearts since the early 1990s. Actor Gajraj Rao recounted an event that happened while Shah Rukh Khan was filming Dil Se in which a sizable mob started pursuing him through the streets of Delhi.
They needed to be calmed, and SRK's presence did just that. He was called "miraculous" by Gajraj, who likened him to the Pied Piper. Gajraj revealed to the popular entertainment portal that it occurred during the filming of an ambulance scenario in Delhi.
He stated, “We were once shooting an ambulance scene where we are taking his character somewhere in the ambulance and we were on the roads of Delhi. And it just so happened, that because we were shooting and there were a few cars around, people got to know that Shah Rukh is inside the ambulance and before we knew it, a lot of people started following the ambulance. It actually got very scary.”
Gajraj remembered Shah Rukh stopping the ambulance and speaking to the crowd. He urged them to not interfere with the ongoing shooting. “He then spoke to the people who were following us and he requested them by saying ‘we are doing a very important scene here. God forbid if something bad were to happen here, then it will be our loss, your loss, the shoot will stop. Do you want this to happen?’ You know how there is a Pied Piper, a magician… People were immediately like ‘nahi ji, bilkul nahi, aap karo.’ There were about 50-100 cars and bikes there and everyone just vanished,” he said.
Gajraj added another instance to his list. He recalled having to push SRK against the wall during a scene's rehearsal. Director Mani Ratnam was concerned that Gajraj was pushing him too hard and advised him to be a little gentle. However, Shah Rukh requested Gajraj to push him as hard as they had during the rehearsal after the director left.
