The handsome actor Abir Chatterjee says that Sabitri Chatterjee is a brilliant actress and romancing her onscreen was a great experience.
Anindya Ghosh's comedy flick Thammar Boyfriend will see Abir as the hero of Sabitri Chatterjee, who in the film is a widow living in a big mansion and inheritor of a huge property. It’s an unusual pairing of a young handsome man and a widow who is a loner.
“I never thought even in my wildest of imaginations that I could play a hero to Sabitri Chatterjee. Sharing the same screen with her is a pleasure but getting her as a heroine is a great honour. See, all the three generations have admired her; my dadu, my baba as well as me…we all have fallen in love with her,” Abir said to Tellychakkar.com when asked how it felt to play the boyfriend of the veteran actress.
He added, “She is a brilliant actress and even Uttam Kumar and Soumitra Chatterjee had mentioned that they used to feel pressurized when they had to act with her. So, it’s a life time experience for me and romancing her onscreen was a great pleasure. The kind of coming timing and sense of humour she has is unquestionable.”
Abir, who earlier appeared in the comedy flick Katmundu, says that Thammar Boyfriend is a film for everyone and it has a beautiful message.
He said, “It’s a light hearted film, which will make everyone happy. The most important part is that after a long time Shabu pishi (Sabitri aunt) will be seen as an opening batsman. And I am telling you that here she is in the form of Virender Sehwag (Cricketer).”
“In comedy films, sometimes one might feel uncomfortable while watching certain scenes but I assure you that here you won’t find anything like that. It’s a film of a family, where there is a grandmother, her boyfriend and her family members, who keep wondering why grandma made a young boyfriend, which leads to hilarious situations,” he added.
The actor, who was present at a jewelry showroom to unveil its “Thamma - Natni Collection, signed off saying, “From the name of the film, it is very clear that it’s a very unique concept. So, I would ask everyone to bring their thammis, dadus and family members to the theatres.”
Great going, Abir!
Thammar Boyfriend released on 18 November (2016).
